When We Make Memories, Share Them!
My sister, her husband, and I recently visited our grandparents for my grandmother’s birthday. In spite of it being a busy time of year and money being a little tight with Christmas, property taxes, homeowner dues, etc. coming up soon, my husband actually convinced me to go. He wisely encouraged me by saying, “Just go. You will regret missing this time with your them. None of us are guaranteed tomorrow! Enjoy time with them while you can.” He was absolutely right, and we had an amazing time reminiscing about our many years together, listening to stories from their childhood, making my grandmother’s favorite peanut butter fudge, visiting with cousins, working in the yard with our grandfather, and of course, eating! Being able to laugh together has meant the world to us. Creating memories is so important. We want to cherish the time we spend with our loved ones.
Throughout the years, I have realized the value of spending time together, and the value seems to keep increasing. Perhaps with age comes the ability to understand that nothing in life is permanent. I always try to take pictures when we gather to document our family’s journey together. Looking at photos reminds us of the good times we have shared. Most of us have tons of digital photos lurking on our phones or cameras, but we never do anything with them. Printing them and putting them in photo albums seems like a big chore and so old-fashioned, so what can we do?
I love creating photo gifts and books! (*This post contains affiliate links, which means that if you purchase something through our links, we earn a little $ to help keep the lights on. With the holidays approaching, it’s time to start thinking about gifts.
- Check out their selection of Custom Photo Books at Mixbook. I used to spend hours scrapbooking, but it got too time consuming. Creating a photo book is an easy way to create a personal gift for you and your loved ones. Whether it’s highlighting a trip, a year’s activities, or a milestone, it’s so nice to be able to pull out an actual book and flip through memories. I even made one for my son when he graduated from high school, and each page offered different “advice” with cute pictures to illustrate him eating well, getting rest, etc.
- My sister creates a calendar every year for all of us. I love seeing the smiling faces of my family all year long. We enjoy flipping to each new month. You can make some spectacular Calendars at Mixbook. I cherish these and have kept every one she has made! It’s nice to flip through them and see how we have grown and changed.
- We send out photo Christmas cards every year, and we all love receiving them from family and friends. We either use pictures from the year or take group photos over Thanksgiving break. The selection of Mixbook’s Holiday Card Collection is amazing! I look forward to getting cards from loved ones every year and display them on a door, just like my parents did.
- Mixbook’s Home Decor page has so many options for printing photos on canvas, metal, acrylic or poster. These special prints make great grandparent gifts. I’m tossing around the idea of printing sport’s pictures to put in a wall collage in each of the kids’ rooms.
The hardest part of these projects is deciding what pictures to use! Remember that the earlier we plan for the holidays, the less stress we endure. Photo gifts can be created once and bought for multiple people. Make sure to check out the Current promotions at Mixbook.com. They usually have a big discount for first-time customers.
