Personalized Water Bottle

by Nora 1 Comment

$5 stainless steel water bottle to priceless gift.

This is a super simple way to personalize a stainless steal water bottle.

My daughter needed to have a gift for her “secret sister” for softball. She asked me if I could create something with her name. She knows that growing up I was never the kid that had my name on anything! Nora is not a popular name. I use to tell her stories of how I would run up to the display of mugs or key chains and search for my name… but would never find it. Making a water bottle with her friends name was a great idea!

We were able to find a really cute water bottle and then we chose navy blue to stand out on the pink and white. The Cricut was used to cut her name out in a simple font. She did not want to be too fancy, just something that would be bold.

After cutting the vinyl, peel the excess off of the letters. This leaves only the printed name to be placed on the water bottle.

Be careful to “weed” the inside of letters and then double check that you have the name correct and have not missed anything. I have made that mistake before!

The next step is to apply transfer tape. We used contact paper. Just place the contact paper over the name. Rub with a credit card or specailty tool to help the vinyl stick to the contact paper and take the white paper off. Then carefully place the sticky contact paper on the water bottle. There is only one chance here to place the name properly. The contact paper is sticky and it is very difficult to re-arrange the name if you get it off center. I used a little pencil mark to help me place the first letter and last letter on the bottle. That way I was able to measure and place the name exactly where I wanted. I have made a mess of things before and learned that if I do it this way it is much less stressful for me!

After placing the name on the water bottle, rub again with the credit card or specailty tool. Make sure that all parts of the letters adhere to the bottle. See where the “R” has come up with the contact paper? I needed to go back and rub the letters again and make sure that they are securely on the bottle and not on the contact paper.

The finished product is a priceless gift. Having a product with your name on it is exciting!

My daughter filled the water bottle with bubble gum. Then she put a bow on it for the perfect personalized gift!

I used our Cricut to make this water bottle. Check out Cricut Design Space™ app or *Cricut.com If you don’t have one, you are missing out!
