My son just got a new chest of drawers, freeing up my childhood triple dresser. I couldn’t stand to part with a piece of my childhood, so I wondered how I could repurpose this large furniture piece. Knowing I didn’t need another dresser to store clothing, I decided to use it to store my collection of craft ribbon. I’m a big fan of keeping things under-wraps, out of sight, not cluttering up my space.
We moved the dresser into my spare room/craft storage space and cleaned the drawers. First, I just put the ribbon in the drawers. That didn’t work too well. I had an aha, lightbulb moment and realized that tension rods would be the perfect solution.
I measured the drawer’s width to see what size tension rod I needed and ordered them from my friends at Amazon. After they were delivered, I emptied the drawers, pulled out all of my spools of ribbon, and organized them.
The next steps were quick and easy, which is the way I like any organizational project.
Slide the ribbon spools onto the tension rods.
Place the tension rods in the drawers, and simply twist to tighten them.
Guess what?! The project is now complete!
Don’t limit the uses to just ribbon! This works with anything on a spool! Tulle, crochet thread, twine, and more all work well!
