Ball and Glove Treats

by Nora Leave a Comment

Softball Rice Crispy Treats are a big HIT with the players! Just the right size for a snack in between games at a tournament.

These are super cute and easy to make. My oldest daughter plays softball and wanted to find a cute snack to make for her teammates. She scoured Pinterest and found these adorable baseball glove treats with a free printable. She took this idea and made round softballs out of Rice Crispy Treats to put in the gloves.

Instead of going out to buy brown card stock, she picked all of the brown construction paper out of the assorted pack. Then cut each paper to the size that will fit in the printer. She printed two gloves on each page. She then made two cuts at the base of the glove. She crossed the tabs and taped the back to make the curve of the glove. These are so adorable!

She was running short on time so she bought large Rice Crispy Treats and cut circles with a plastic scoop. She was careful to not make the ball too small or too big for the glove. She played around with several sizes before she found the size she liked the best and cut out the rest.

She purchased yellow candy melts to dip the Rice Crispy Treats. Unfortunately, she put too much time on the microwave and the candy seized up, so she had to throw a whole batch away. But it was a really good lesson, to make sure to go slow, and melt the candy 10 to 15 seconds at a time.
Carefully, she melted the the candy in the microwave according to the directions on the package. She then dipped all the Rice Crispy Treats in the yellow candy melts.

She did not want to use icing for the stitches of the softball, so she came up with the idea of cutting Twizzlers into curves to create the look of stitches. This took her a little time to get the proper curve of the stitches so that they looked right. She said that cutting the Twizzlers was the hardest part of the whole project. She adhered the Twizzlers to the “softball” with just a little melted candy. It may be easier to just use red icing or a food marker to make the stitches. But, I think these turned out really adorable.

Each Rice Crispy Softball was wrapped individually, then placed in the glove. The ball and glove were wrapped together in a larger treat bag.

This is one proud girl! She has made these super cute Softball Treats for her team twice so far. The team love them!
