5 Beauty Cleaning Hacks for your Quarantine Cleaning & Beyond
With so much more time at home right now, we should try to find time to take care of things we often neglect, like going through our closets and cabinets, but let’s not forget to clean our makeup brushes and beauty essentials. Let’s face it, it’s not like we are wearing much makeup right now anyway. It’s the perfect time to clean and organize!
Here are FIVE beauty cleaning Hacks that will help you save Time and Money!
- Clean the inside of your makeup bags with sanitizing wipes. Take everything out of your make up bag, turn it inside out and wipe clean with a pre-moistened disinfectant wipe. Take extra care on stains and corners. It took me a while to dig all the powder out of one side corner of my bag. Apparently, it spilled and I did not notice, until it was time to clean. Let air dry inside out before putting all your makeup back into the bag.
- Use rubbing alcohol on a cotton swab to clean and disinfect your eyelash curler, metal nail tools and even your pencil sharpener. Dip the cotton swab in alcohol then clean each item thoroughly, repeat until the new cotton swab has no discoloration or residue. Let items air dry before using.
- Clean your makeup sponges with water and liquid soap. You will need two bowls of water. Add a few drops of liquid soap to one bowl of water; use the other as rinse water. Clean each sponge separately in the soapy mixture and then rinse in the clean water. This needs to be repeated until the rinse water is clear and the sponge is visibly clean. Let the sponge air dry.
- To clean your brushes: combine 1 tsp of vinegar and 1 tsp of dishwashing detergent to half a cup of water. Running water or a separate rinse cup is needed. Submerge the brush and swirl, use a Lego plate (yes, go grab that from the kids toy box, you will be surprised just how well it works!) or a specially designed brush cleaner to make sure that all the residue is loosed and your brush is clean. Repeat as necessary until the rinse water is clean. Reshape the brush and let it air dry before using.
- Clean your hairdryer filter with an old toothbrush. Unplug the hairdryer. If you can take the cover off of your dryer to get to the filter do so. Then gently take the dry toothbrush and scrub the lint away. This is messy so you may want to do this over the trash can or on a towel. After cleaning this, my hairdryer works like new!
